The Government Printing Office is trying to "right-size" its printing operation. The GPO is in the first phase of a process that will one day bring more efficient, and less costly digital printers to its plant on North Capitol Street. The goal: to save both taxpayer dollars and printing paper.
More than 200 GPO staffers trucked through the snow to get to work this week. Bob Tapella is the Public Printer, who heads the GPO. He joins us with a behind-the-scenes look at what important tasks these employees were carrying out.
Approximately 300 GPO employees are needed to produce the 10 pound Budget.
