A new Commerce Department website is offering tools to teach computer skills to those new to the Net. It’s called digitalliteracy.gov. The new site offers links to everything from basic Web surfing tips and online banking tutorials, to tips on keeping your information safe. It’s part of an Obama administration push to get high speed internet access to more people, and give them the skills to compete in today’s digital economy. The site was created by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. It was awarded $4 billion in stimulus funding to pay for new high-speed Internet networks and other broadband programs.
