  • Now that the Presidential election is behind us, it’s time to get back to work. With new members of congress coming to town in January how will that impact the President’s traditional “Diplomatic” approach to trade? We’ll also compare the President’s past performance on trade to what BGOV see in the future. BGOV economic analyst Ken Monahan and Trade Policy Analyst Caitlin Webber will explain.
  • When referencing the economy, talk typically turns to housing and jobs. The most recent jobs report released shortly after the election showed an increase in employment. A true increase could point to a turn in the economy benefiting the housing industry, or would it? Senior Economic Analyst Dr. Nela Richardson is on the program to help us truly understand the truth behind the numbers.

Allen Scott (moderator) specializes in customer on boarding and training at Bloomberg Government. Allen previously worked at Arbitron, Inc. where he served in a variety of roles from customer service to sales operations manager. Prior to Arbitron, Allen worked in radio for several years in the Washington and Baltimore areas. Most recently he spent six years at 99.1 HFS as co-host and news director.
Ken Monahan is an economic analyst. Before joining Bloomberg, he was an international economist and acting team lead in the Office of Trade Policy Analysis at the Commerce Department’s International Trade Administration. He holds a B.A. in economics from the University of New Hampshire, a masters in central and eastern European studies from Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, and a masters in international relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
Caitlin Webber is a trade policy analyst at Bloomberg Government. She had worked in congressional affairs and she covered foreign policy as a reporter for Congressional Quarterly. Webber holds a B.A. in government and Spanish from Sweet Briar College and an M.S. in comparative politics from the London School of Economics.
Nela Richardson is an economic analyst with Bloomberg Government. She was a research economist at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission before joining Bloomberg. Richardson was also a senior economist at Freddie Mac, a researcher at Harvard’s Joint Center for Housing Studies, and an adjunct professor of finance at Johns Hopkins. Richardson has a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Maryland, a M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. from Indiana University.
