Obama holds Mideast talks

September 1, 2010 - 6:03am

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama will hold separate meetings Wednesday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (neh-ten-YAH'-hoo) and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas (mahk-MOOD' ah-BAHS').

It's an effort to jump-start peace talks that have been stalled for almost two years. He'll also meet with King Abdullah II of Jordan and President Hosni Mubarak (HAHS'-nee moo-BAH'-rahk) of Egypt.

With Hurricane Earl bearing down on the U.S., the president will get an update on preparations from Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Craig Fugate.
