Apple is telling iPhone app developers to keep their mitts off iPhone users’ address books. The move comes after two congressman wrote to CEO Tim Cook. They’d heard reports about applications that copied phone owners contacts data and uploaded them. ComputerWorld reports, Reps. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) and G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.) asked whether Apple was doing enough to protect iPhone users’ private information. The application in question came from a company called Path.com. It publishes an online journal app. The company has apologized to iPhone owners who downloaded its app.
