When last we heard from Lurita Doan, the former GSA Administrator was drawing on radio's "theater of the mind", in her garden, listening to FederalNewsRadio, and doing "a little victory dance" after hearing something that let her know "that my efforts as GSA Administrator, actually made that day possible."

Now, that garden is growing.

Lurita Doan, as candid and controversial as ever, is joining FederalNewsRadio as a regular contributor of commentary and analysis.

"I think it'd be really interesting to look at leadership that works within the government, and sometimes outside of the government, and of course at leadership that doesn't work, and what the consequences are both for us as government employees and for American taxpayers," says Doan.

"Those characteristics make her a perfect fit for commentary and analysis on FederalNewsRadio," says Program Director Lisa Wolfe. "Her insights on how the federal government operates and her opinions on how it should operate will be food for thought for the senior executive, political and contractor."

Doan's segment, "Leadership Matters", will focus on leadership challenges facing the federal government. You will be able to hear her commentary on the radio and read her OP-EDs on the web at FederalNewsRadio.com.

"It's much talked about, everyone has an opinion about it, many like to claim the mantle, but leadership is enormously hard, incredibly challenging and it's something we are all constantly searching for both in and out of government," explains Doan.

In her OP-ED column and on "Leadership Matters", airing every Tuesday morning at 7:28 a.m. beginning July 29, Doan will explore both what works, and what doesn't. People in government may sometimes be a little hesitant to talk about what's not going well, "but that actually is one of the signs of leadership," says Doan.

"A leader is not afraid to admit that something may not be going right, because everyone understands that you can never fix a problem unless you can admit that you're having one."
