January 28, 2010 - 6:46am

Cybersecurity Update - Tune in weekdays at 30 minutes past the hour for the latest cybersecurity news on The Federal Drive with Tom Temin and Jane Norris (6-10 a.m.) and The Daily Debrief with Chris Dorobek and Amy Morris (3-7 p.m.). Listen live at FederalNewsRadio.com or on the radio at 1500 and 820 AM in the Washington, D.C. metro area.

Computerworld reports, if the device gets stolen, there is no way to deploy a push policy that locks it. It also lacks support for virtual private networks, and for Microsoft Outlook e-mail.

  • In first public speech, Howard Schmidt details five main focus areas, including updating the federal cybersecurity strategy. He also answers questions about how he will work with the NSC and NEC, and with the federal CIO and CTO. Schmidt says the administration has a big opportunity to improve the long-term cyber health of the government and industry.

  • Today is Data Privacy Day. To mark it, Microsoft released research that found seven in 10 recruiters rejected job applicants because of indiscreet information they found online. So we'll say it again: If you are looking for a federal job, clean up your Facebook page. If you are looking to fill positions, don't be the manager who missed compromising information on a candidate.
