iPad bringing efficiency to government?

More government executives across the U.S. and internationally can be found using iPad\'s to increase their productivity.

The apple iPad could be making government more efficient.

Govtech.com is reporting that more government executives across the country and internationally are piloting the iPad and using them for everyday business. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is reportedly inseparable from his iPad and the Saskatchewan government in Canada issued iPads to its Cabinet ministers this month.

The reason: They feel the device makes them more efficient and that it “has the potential to change how technology is delivered to government employees.”

Govtech.com spoke with Doug Holt, the deputy executive director of the Texas Department of Information Resources. Holt said he was able to quickly retrieve e-mail and his calendar on-the-go.

The iPad also provides an easy-to-use platform for gadget apps – including several note-taking applications. One of those apps, WritePad, types out in real time what is written by hand on the bottom of the tablet.
