CXO Surveys: 2014 Priorities

Each year, Federal News Radio conducts a series of surveys of senior leaders across government for an in-depth look at the priorities and challenges faced by the CXO community. Each quarter, we release the results of a new survey from one of the following CXOs: CIO, CAO, CFO, and CHCO.

CIO Survey Results 2014

A new Federal News Radio survey of federal chief information officers and deputy CIOs found cyber above all else is the top priority. Charlie Armstrong, the CIO for Customs and Border Protection, said his focus is to protect the data first and foremost and his systems a very close second.

CFO Survey Results 2014

Federal News Radio's annual chief financial officers survey found dealing with budget reductions and workforce challenges continue to be top priorities. At the National Science Foundation, CFO Martha Rubenstein said her office completed what may be the last modernized financial management system done by the private sector.

A Federal News Radio survey of chief acquisition officers and other senior acquisition managers says workforce training and retention remain among their biggest priorities and challenges.

CHCO Survey Results 2014

Federal News Radio's survey of agency chief human capital officers and deputy CHCOs finds that employee engagement and supervisor training are among the most common ways they are improving the morale of the workforce. NASA CHCO Jeri Buchholz said training of these supervisors is key to making agencies run more smoothly.
