Beth Cobert is on the job as the deputy director for management at the Office of Management and Budget.

The Senate confirmed Cobert and 24 other nominees late Wednesday night.

Cobert comes to OMB after spending her 29-year career as a consultant for McKinsey and Co. She replaces Jeff Zients, who served more than four years as DDM and chief performance officer and resigned May 1. Steve VanRoekel, the federal chief information officer, had been serving as DDM on an interim basis since May.

She will lead President Obama’s second-term management agenda, which is focused on four pillars: efficiency, effectiveness, people, and economy.

Cobert received broad support from the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee during her nomination hearing. She said her approach will be to be clear on the objectives that will drive the recommendations toward improvement.

Along with Cobert, the Senate approved several other agency management officials:

  • Stevan Bunnell to be general counsel of the Department of Homeland Security
  • Sylvia Garcia to be the chief financial officer for the Department of Transportation.
  • Scott Dahl to be the Labor Department’s Inspector General.
  • Gregory Winfree to be administrator of the Research and Innovative Technology Administration at the Department of Transportation.
  • Stephen Preston to be general counsel of the Department of Defense.
