Amendment aims to speed up ship building plan

The Armed Services committee Seapower chairman is tired of waiting for the Navy’s ship building plan to come in.

Aol Defense reports Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) will propose an amendment to the Defense Authorization Bill tomorrow that would put pressure on the Navy Secretary.

If the 30-year plan is not in on time, he would lose access to an account called the “triple E” fund. The fund is a small account used for discretional spending. Losing it would mean no money for things like conferences.
