D.C. gov workers worried new mayor will end ROWE

A new mayor could derail the D.C. Office of the CTO\'s plans to start a results-only work environment, GovLoop and American Progress report.

A new mayor in Washington, D.C., could end plans by the city’s Office of the Chief Technology Officer to introduce a Results-Only Work Environment by January 2011, GovLoop reports.

Bryan Sivak, D.C.’s 35-year-old Chief Technology Officer, predicts a radical results-only culture will boost worker productivity by 30 percent and enhance employee morale at the 550-employee office, according to GovLoop.

Sivlak is a political appointee of Mayor Adrian Fenty, who was defeated in the Democratic primary by City Council Chairman Vincent Gray.

Sivlak said he has not yet discussed his future or the ROWE plans with presumptive mayor Gray, American Progress reports in its series “Going ROWE.” Despite the possibility he could lose his job, Sivlak told American Progress that he will continue with the ROWE plans.
