Agencies get 2017 deadline to move to new procurement ID standard

The Federal Acquisition Regulations Council issued a final rule Monday detailing the timeframe and steps agencies must take to begin using the Procurement Instrument Identification (PIID) numbering system. The PIID only is for new contracting actions after the effective date.

Contract performance reporting improves, but not good enough

Industry reps pessimistic about legislative IT reform this year

IT Alliance for Public Sector experts say there are two major reasons for their fleeting hope—one is the little time lawmakers have in Washington over the next four months; and second is the continued impasse among the Senate and House over the role of agency CIOs. Kendall shapes DoD acquisition reforms around 7 areas

John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Carl Levin (D-Mich.) back in June detailing how Congress can help DoD improve its acquisition outcomes.
