Many people celebrate National Pi Day -- March 14 or 3/14 -- by enjoying a slice of pie.

Jerry Davis, chief information officer and director of the Information Technology Directorate at NASA Ames Research Center, took the celebration a step further by letting coworkers pelt him with pies.

NASA Ames staff celebrated Pi Day a day early on Thursday, March 13, with a competition to see who could recall Pi to the most decimal points and who could eat the most real pie. Winners got to hurl pies at Davis.
