Government professionals are adopting mobile devices to enhance telework, improve communications, boost productivity and service their customers with greater ease. This discussion explores how agencies are managing costs, accessibility, and security requirements for mobile devices as well as discusses the current state of data privacy and steps agencies are taking to protect sensitive data and citizens’ rights to privacy.

Danette Campbell is the Senior Advisor for Telework at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). She is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive telework and hoteling programs for agency employees in order to address productivity, employee retention, and space management issues. Prior to starting at USPTO in January 2006, Ms. Campbell was employed at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) where she was responsible for the oversight of public and private sector telework in the Washington metropolitan region.
Joe Klimavicz is NOAA’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Director, High Performance Computing and Communications. He is responsible for implementing statutory requirements regarding the acquisition, management, and use of NOAA’s information and IT resources. Mr. Klimavicz is also responsible for NOAA’s Homeland Security Program and serves as the Department of Commerce Senior Agency Official for Geospatial Information (SAOGI), and as the Senior Executive responsible for the Department’s use of the radio frequency spectrum.
CAPT Michael Dickey is the Commanding Officer of the Coast Guard Telecommunication and Information Systems Command in Alexandria, Virginia. Prior to this position, Captain Dickey was assigned to Coast Guard Headquarters as Executive Assistant to the Assistant Commandant for Capability where he served for one year until he was selected as a member of the Coast Guard’s Strategic Transformation Team where he served as the lead Mission Support Organization analyst. He served as Commanding Officer of Electronic Systems Support Unit Cleveland from 2008 to 2011.
Sean Siler is the Director of Device Sales, Department of Defense, for Microsoft Federal. Sean owns the business of selling Windows based tablets into the US Department of Defense. This is a new role for Microsoft, and Sean is building the business from the ground up. He partners closely with hardware manufacturers, large account resellers, and the entirety of the Windows ecosystem to build solutions that address the mobility needs of America’s warfighters. Sean has been an IT professional for more than 20 years, and has been working with Microsoft since early 2005.
Jason Kimrey is the Area Director for US Federal at Intel Corporation. He currently leads a business development team responsible for working throughout the US Government to address mission requirements of Defense and Civilian agencies through the use of leading edge technologies. Jason has held various Sales and Marketing positions throughout his 13 year career at Intel. Prior to Intel, Jason worked extensively in the government and healthcare industries at EDS and NY Life. He holds a Bachelor of Science from James Madison University and an MBA from the University of Georgia.
