  • You’re not the only one spending more at the gas pump – The government’s gas bill rose by more than $200 million last year! Agencies used 322 million gallons of gas in 2010. That’s a seven percent increase and despite the administration’s call for them to reduce emissions and fuel dependency. Federal Times reports the government’s total gas bill came in at just 940 million dollars for non-military operations.
  • Veterans Affairs is preparing for a lot more work. The department is expecting a record number of claims for benefits this year. Secretary Eric Shinseki says they’re gearing up for about one and a half million. VA is using automation to deal with the rising workload.
