The Financial Management Service disperses over one billion dollars in payments to roughly a 100 million people each year. And some of those people are still using checks. Checks that are often lost, stolen or tampered with.

The Financial Management Service developed an electronic payment program. The debit card like system could save the government millions of dollars each year. And that cost-saving innovation is why they are the winner of the American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council's Excellence in Improving the Operations of Government award.
