Imagine if you had to predict the federal budget for fiscal 2012 when there is no budget for fiscal 2011 yet. That’s the task facing market research firm INPUT.

Tight budgets are forcing agencies to tighten their belts, and that is forcing agencies to re-priortize IT funds. The Office of Management and Budget plans to shift money from underperforming agencies to ones that more strongly align with national priorities.

Deniece Peterson, the manager of federal industry analyst at Input, says compiling the report is very difficult, so you can only imagine what agencies and contractors are facing.
