  • The White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy is getting loaded down with homework. OSTP will play a key role in helping the country meet President Obama’s call for 80 percent of the country’s energy to come from renewable sources by 2035. The office also will help meet Obama’s call to create a website detailing how and where all tax money is spent. All of this comes as OSTP is understanding its new requirements in the America Competes Act signed into law last month. Tom Kalil, deputy director for policy at OSTP, told WFED’s Jason Miller about the steps the Office of Science and Technology Policy will take to implement the America Competes law.
  • One of the largest federal employee unions plans to launch a campaign to address the perception that government workers are to blame for government problems. John Gage. president of the American Federation of Government Employees, tells Federal News Radio that his organization will defend itself against the attacks because no one else will…starting first in Washington D.C.   • Deputy Defense Secretary Bill Lynn and the vice chairs of the uniformed services appeared on Capitol Hill today for a grilling on DoD’s efficiency initiatives. They heard some complaints from lawmakers, both about the cuts themselves and about being kept out of the loop on the decision-making process.
