  • The Defense Information Systems Agency has set up demilitarized zones, or DMZs, to better secure the Defense Department's unclassified network. These zones are areas between the public Internet and DoD's network where certain low-risk applications can live. DMZs are part of a broader freedom of action in cyberspace initiative. Federal News Radio's Jason Miller joined the DorobekINSIDER with details on how DISA is changing Defense network security.

  • Defense Secretary Robert Gates made what has been described as a preemptive move by announcing cuts to the Defense Department budget. Federal News Radio's Jared Serbu outlined Gates' plans to cut $78 billion over the next five years.
