American man in custody after plot to kill bin Laden fails

In this bizarre story, an American man is in Pakistani custody after his quest to capture and kill Osama bin Laden failed.

In a truly bizarre story, a 50-year-old American man is in Pakistani custody after his quest to capture and kill Osama bin Laden failed.

Gary Faulkner, a Colorado man, is being questioned but has not been charged with anything yet, CNN reports.

Faulkner was stopped near the border with Afghanistan’s Nuristan province, Pakistani police announced Tuesday.

He was carrying a pistol, a sword, night-vision equipment and Christian religious books, said Mumtaz Ahmed, a police chief in the area.

We’re piecing together this incredibly strange story with CNN’s Brian Todd. Todd says the more they learn the more odd the story becomes.
