Europe proposes international cyber crime fighting group

The New New Internet.com reports that the Council of European Union saw the need to ensure a very high level of network security and faster reaction in the event of cyber disruptions or cyber attacks. The proposed cyber center would serve as a permanent liaison body with user and victims’ organizations and the private sector. If it comes through, the new center could be located at Europol in The Hague in the Netherlands.

  • The National Institute of Standards and Technology has been tapped to coordinate the interagency National Initiative for Cyber Education. The initiative lays out a four part plan to improve cyber security: have DHS promote cybersecurity risks to the public at large; have the Department of Education and the Office of Science and Technology Policy ensure the education system expand its scientific engineering and market leadership in cybersecurity technology; have OPM create new strategies to recruit cybersecurity employees; have all federal agencies better train its entire workforce on cybersecurity measures.
