The National Security Personnel System is inherently flawed and needs to be rebuilt. That’s just one of the seven recommendations from the Defense Business Board, the independent task group formed by the Department of Defense and the Office of Personnel Management to review NSPS, the system by which the DoD hires, compensates, promotes and rewards it’s civilian workforce. It’s going to get easier for veterans with Post Traumatic Stress disorder to get help. The Department of Veterans Affairs published regulations in the Federal Register this week that would make it easer for a veteran get benefits as a result of PTSD. Under the new rule, veterans would no longer need their claims corroborated if a VA doctor agrees the claims are caused by fear of hostile or terroriest activity. Comments on the proposed rule will be accepted over the next 60 days. A final regulation will be published after consideration of all comments received.

Later this week if you’ll hear and see the federal government in action. NORAD is conducting a one-day exercise this THURSDAY over Washington D.C. Civil Air Patrol aircraft and Coast Guard helicopters will conduct test of the Visual Warning System. The training flights will be in the late night and early morning hours beginning Thursday at midnight. These exercises are planned to ensure NORAD’s rapid response capability and are in response to the to the 9-11 terrorist attacks.
