A fifth State Department worker has been convicted of snooping into the passport files of famous Americans. Kevin Young, a 22-year veteran of the State Department from Temple Hills, Maryland pleaded guilty today to illegally accessing more than 125 confidential passport applications for celebrities, professional athletes and a politician. An investigation began in March 2008 after officials discovered unauthorized access of the files for then-presidential candidates Barack Obama, John McCain and Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Lockheed Martin says it will eliminate 800 jobs across its space systems division, largely in two facilities in Colorado and California. The reductions represent about 4.5 percent of the overall workforce. All job functions will be affected, including technical, managerial and administration positions primarily at its Denver and Sunnyvale, California facilities. The Bethesda based company said Monday that the jobs cuts are aimed at “improving its competitive posture.” Lockheed says it will offer a voluntary layoff plan to help minimize the number of necessary layoffs.
