Health care data comes from unexpected places.

Part of the big data challenge federal agencies deal with is assessing who might have data that’s usable. Data assemblers are learning that health care data comes from more than just a few of the usual suspects like Health and Human Services and the National Institutes of Health. John Teeter, managing director of the Global Center of Excellence for Health at KMPG and former deputy CIO at the Department of Health and Human Services, says health care data lives in some places most people wouldn’t think of.
