Defense industry poised for change, challenges

The defense industry will face a range of tough challenges this year: Declining federal spending, evolving customer requirements related to the changed threat environment and the increase of competition from nontraditional defense contractors, such as Accenture, Dell and Apple are just a few of the issues on the horizon.

That's according to an analysis from Booz and Company, which predicts a coming "inflection point" — one not seen in decades — in the defense industry.
