Navy/Air Force Systems
Mr. John Walsh is the vice president of Unified Communications at General Dynamics Information Technology. He heads a line of business that provides systems integration, life-cycle engineering and management and enterprise network support for Department of Defense (DoD) and other Federal Civilian agencies. He is responsible for program performance, new business acquisition and marketing of global support programs. Mr. Walsh is responsible for the implementation, operations and management of multiple contracts including Voice Switching solutions and support, information technology (IT) services and associated products and operations and maintenance of IT Networks. John's team is the single system manager for the U.S. Air Force's Air Defense Communication Services contract, responsible for engineering, operations and maintenance across the continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii and Guam. His organization also provides network operations center (NOC) support consisting of multi-tiered technical and engineering services worldwide to hundreds of DoD and Federal Civilian organizations on a 24x365 basis. As a prime contractor on the U.S.
Air Force NETCENTS contract, Mr. Walsh's team performed the majority of the Voice Switching System upgrades for the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Walsh leads a team of dedicated employees and team members spread across the United States, Pacific and European theaters. These teams manage technology updates to the embedded base of clients' telecommunications products, new system implementation and ongoing sustainment support. His teams provide leading edge technology integration and frequently assist customers with the consolidation of services and operations and maintenance functions resulting in a lower total cost of ownership including high priority activities today include the enterprise architecture upgrade for the Federal Aviation Administration's Administrative Voice Services and Defense Information Systems Agency's Assured Real Time Services Unified Communications.
In addition, Mr. Walsh also manages the acquisition activity and support of new telecommunications initiatives through existing programs and new procurements. Prior to his current position, John held multiple program and financial management positions during his career at General Dynamics. He has more than 20 years of management and supervisory experience with telecommunications programs in support of the U.S. Government.
Mr. Walsh is a native of New England. He received his Business Degree from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. He resides in Framingham, Mass, with his wife, Erin and their four children.
