The Food and Drug Administration is changing the way it approves over-the-counter medicine. This includes pain relievers, sunscreens and even anti-fungal medicines. The agency wants to more quickly be able to introduce new forms of medicine, as researchers discover better ingredients. Sandy Kweder, deputy director of the Office of New Drugs at FDA, has more on this process

The federal government has lots of facts and figures, but it doesn’t always know how to turn them into meaningful applications. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is the latest agency to ask for help in making its data useful for the public. Kathryn Sullivan is the acting undersecretary of Commerce for oceans and atmosphere and acting NOAA administrator.

Want cloud computing services? Come June, agencies will be restricted to only those that meet governmentwide cybersecurity requirements under the Federal Risk Authorization and Management Program, or FedRAMP. Next week, agencies must tell the Office of Management and Budget through PortfolioStat how much progress they’ve made towards that goal. Maria Roat is the General Services Administration’s FedRAMP director. She speaks with Federal News Radio Executive Editor Jason Miller.
