General Dynamics has acquired the cybersecurity firm Fidelis Security Systems of Bethesda. Fidelis makes network appliances that inspect and analyze packets at high speed, looking for evidence of malware attacks.

The company will join the General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems Division.

But in a blog post, Fidelis CEO Peter George said GD would offer commercial incident tracking and forensics under the Fidelis name. Washington Business Journal reports, it's the second General Dynamics acquisition in a week. Monday GD acquired the defense operations of Gayston Corporation, a maker of ordnance.
