Agencies with virtualized computer systems open to cyber attacks

Federal agencies running virtualized computer systems might be vulnerable to a new
cyber attack. The warning comes from the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team.
PC World reports a flaw exists in systems running virtual machines in 64-bit mode using Intel processors. The flaw could let attackers take control of the machines as if they were system administrators.
Vulnerable operating systems include Microsoft Windows 7 and Red Hat Linux. Computers with AMD processors are not vulnerable. The flaw mainly affects Xen virtualization software.
U.S. CERT says VMware systems are safe.
