Audit backlog may hinder DoD's contracting ability

Federal Times reported the agency performed last year roughly a quarter of the audits it did four years earlier.
DCAA officials said they've slowed down so they could do a better job. They said they were paying more attention to the details and producing greater net savings.
But critics said the agency has, in essence, stopped performing audits. The clock is ticking, as agencies have six years to challenge contractor invoices.
