Homeless veterans in the Washington area are being sought out so they can be cared for. It’s part of a larger federal effort to find the homeless in order to assess their medical conditions. Bethesda Cares, an outreach program, spent the past three days on the streets in search of their target clients.

Mobile government is a concept all agencies are embracing. And the need to work from anywhere requires industry to work with agencies on technology solutions. But a new survey of industry and government IT leaders shows they disagree on issues in some key areas. The study is called “Off the Hook: Federal TeleCom Disconnect” and was sponsored in part by CenturyLink. Diana Gowen is CenturyLink’s senior vice president and general manager.

The Department of Defense has more than 300,000 buildings and more than 2 billion square feet of building space. Reducing the energy costs alone can mean big savings. DoD is taking some major steps toward building bases and installations that are more sustainable.
