FBI warns of bogus Homeland Security letter

The FBI says it has received multiple reports of a scam letter using a copy of the FBI seal.

A new scam email looks like official correspondence from the FBI and demands money from recipients. The phony emails were reportedly sent to residents in Michigan and nationwide. New Baltimore Patch reports, the emailed letter uses a copy of the FBI seal and FBI Director Robert Mueller’s name. It then tells recipients they need to send $350 to the Homeland Security Department to obtain a Clearance Certificate, or legal action will be taken. The FBI wants you to know, it does not send out emails soliciting personal information or money from citizens.
