DOD program office missing key information

$11.2 billion contract has no records on pricing negotiations or other procurement information.

A defense program has dropped the ball in keeping track of pricing and other procurement information on an $11.2 billion contract. That, despite a push to gather better pricing information on contracts across the Defense Department.

It’s all part of a new DoD Inspector General’s report. It finds that contracting officials at DoD’s Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation did not have required documents including records on pre-negotiation and price negotiation memos.

The report says those documents are crucial for accountability and transparency during the acquisition process. Officials say the information helps DoD know if it’s paying a fair price and getting the most for its dollar.
