DHS worries of Stuxnet copycat

The Homeland Security Department is worried that copycat cyber criminals could be preparing an attack on the U.S.

Officials at DHS's 24-hour cyber warning center tell Next Gov, hackers may try to reengineer malicious software like the Stuxnet worm that Infected Iran's nuclear operations.

Stuxnet penetrated systems operating machinery critical to infrastructure.

DHS worries copycat attacks could target U.S. electrical plants, water treatments plants, and other vital services.
