Cybersecurity tips for travelers

Airports are hotbeds for identity theft, and from rogue Wi-Fi hotspots to new wirelessly accessible e-passports, travelers have never been at greater risk.

You keep your valuables safe when you travel. You should also keep your identity safe. The International Council of E-Commerce Consultants, the ECCouncil, is a member-based organization that certifies individuals in cybersecurity and e-commerce. It has come up with cybersecurity safety tips for travelers.

  • Pay for your trip by credit card.
  • Use an RFID blocking passport wallet.
  • Don’t use public computers at Internet cafes or hotels.
  • Try to avoid using public WiFi.
  • Turn off your Bluetooth when you’re not using it.
  • Do NOT tell everyone on Facebook and Twitter that you’re going away.
