White House to propose national cyber plan

The White House is expected to unveil its national cyber security policy today. It will lay out requirements for industry to better protect critical infrastructure like power plants and the electric grid. Cyber security experts familiar with the plan say it requires federal agencies to better monitor their computer networks. It also requires private companies to tell consumers when their personal information has been compromised. Lawmakers and industry leaders have been wrangling over how to protect the U.S. from cyber attacks without infringing on business practices or civil liberties.
