Air Force grounds F-22s

The stand-down order was made Tuesday but is just now becoming public. It\'s unclear how long the stand down will last.

The U.S. Air Force is grounding Lockheed Martin’s F-22 Raptor fighter jets indefinitely after reports of a faulty oxygen system. CNN reports the order came from Gen. William Fraser, commander of Air Combat Command, which is based at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. The Air Force said it has given the order to stop flying the jets while crews inspect how oxygen is delivered to the pilot. There are 165 jets in the fleet. All are grounded. The Raptor is the premier U.S. fighter, with cutting-edge “fifth-generation” features, that make it appear small as a bird on enemy radar screens.
