NASA works to make airplanes quieter and greener

Designs that may make airplanes greener and quieter for future generations are one step closer to reality. NASA\'s Richard Wahls explains.

Some inventors want to build a better mousetrap. NASA scientists want to build a better airplane. Better means it flies farther on a tankful of fuel and makes less noise doing so. NASA’s Subsonic Fixed Wing Project works with the aviation industry in a program to help invent the next generation of aircraft. We got an update from Richard Wahls, project scientist for the project.
