Shutdown would challenge vets too

Not everything will remain normal for veterans seeking help.

Veterans Affairs won’t see major disruptions in the event of a shutdown, but Stars and Stripes reports, that doesn’t mean everything is going to be normal for veterans. Health care services will remain operational. Medical appointments will not be cancelled or delayed and hospitals will stay open. Benefits will be paid out on time as long as the shutdown is brief. National cemeteries will stay open, but some might operate on a modified schedule. VA fraud investigations and services to answer veterans questions would be shut down.
