Maybe we don’t need cyber security regulations. Maybe what we need are incentives to ensure networks are secure. A group of industry associations and civil liberties groups are recommending that the federal government come up with a so-called menu of incentives, like insurance discounts for enterprises and research-and-development tax credits for IT security vendors. SC Magazine is reporting that the white paper builds upon the administration’s Cyberspace Policy Review by providing recommendations to help government and private sector work together to improve cybersecurity.
