This might be one of the more unusual requests for bids. The military is issuing a request for bids on software that will create fake identities on social media sites. The Air Force wants to create a whole unit of non-existent identities on places like Facebook and Twitter. They’re looking to create about 500 imaginary friends with the software. Information Week is reporting that the software would help protect government agencies’ identities by using false signals to convince other users that the poster is a real person.
