'Cyber war is a terrible metaphor'

Cybersecurity czar Howard Schmidt says the habit of calling threats a "cyber war" could lead to mass hysteria. Schmidt's shared his concerns at a cybersecurity Conference in San Francisco. "Cyber war is a terrible metaphor," said Schmidt. "Don't make it something it's not." He says Internet attacks deserve serious attention but often the attitude toward those threats escalates too quickly. E-Week Europe reports that some industry insiders agreed saying government initiatives can create the impression of a cyber arms race.
