Money for the U.S. military is getting tighter. So how can the U.S. keep funding Afghanistan's forces? That question is put to the Senate Armed Services Committee by Defense Secretary Robert Gates. DOD has requested $107 billion for operations in Afghanistan next year. That figure includes nearly $13 billion to fund Afghan police and army. The money will enable Afghanistan forces to reach their goal of 378,000 members. After the U.S. departs in 2014, Gates asks whether the U.S. will continue to cover the costs of Afghanistan's military.
