Medal of Honor recipient Staff Sergeant Sal Giunta drew the nation’s admiration as the first living Medal of Honor recipient from the Iraq-Afghanistan wars. Now, he’s opted not to re-enlist. Instead, he’ll move with his wife to Colorado to pursue his education. He was serving as a rifle team leader in Afghanistan when his platoon was attacked in 2007. He saved members of the platoon from intense enemy fire and rescued one downed colleague who was being dragged off by insurgents. His public appearances have included the Superbowl and the State of the Union speech, sitting next to Michele Obama.
