TSA hacker sentenced to prison

A former TSA worker has been sentenced for tampering with government databases.

A former contract worker for the Transportation Security Administration will spend two years in prison for trying to inject malicious code into federal databases. Douglas James Duchack has been sentenced in federal court on two counts of trying to damage a protected computer. Information Week reports Duchack was a data analyst in charge of updating TSA computers with information from the federal Terrorist Screening Database and U.S. Marshals Service Warrant Information Network. Several days after he was told he would be terminated, he tried to load malicious code on the system behind the screening database. On top of prison time, Duchak will need to pay more than $60,000 in restitution.
