Microsoft has given its customers a special holiday gift. It's a bundle of patches for 40 vulnerabilities in Windows, Internet Explorer, Office, SharePoint and Exchange. ComputerWorld reports, nine of the patches have been rated as CRITICAL by Microsoft. Some of them fix well-known flaws that let hackers put malware on people's computers.

Microsoft itself highlighted two of the patch bulletins. Keep an eye out for MS-10-090. It fixes holes in Internet Explorer, including version eight, the latest in production. MS-10-091 fixes vulnerabilities in Windows that can be exploited by non-Microsoft browsers.
