It appears the U.S. dodged the Stuxnet bullet. While computer software that’s targeted by Stuxnet is used in the U.S. infrastructure, it appears the virus didn’t impact any systems in this country. Agence-France-Presse reports Stuxnet was looking for very specific kinds of software. Greg Schaffer is the assistant secretary for cybersecurity and communications in the Department of Homeland Security. He told the Defense Writers Group that Stuxnet demonstrates the increasingly sophisticated nature of cyber threats today. Most Stuxnet infections have been discovered in Iran.
