Kundra extends cloud comment period

\"I\'ve actually extended the time for industry to comment to Jan. 17,\" said federal CIO Vivek Kundra.

Are security concerns keeping your agency from joining the Cloud Computing Generation? You may have to wait just a bit longer. Federal CIO Vivek Kundra says final, government-wide cloud security standards should hatch in about six months. Speaking at a NextGov conference, Kundra said he extended the period for industry comments to mid-January. After that, the administration will start solidifying its cloud security approach. The Obama administration has been pushing cloud computing as a way to save energy and reduce the number of federal data centers. In the meantime, Kundra has pushed the GSA to develop the so-called FedRamp process. Under FedRamp, a cloud provider is certified once, so each agency doesn’t have to do its own security certification.
