Chertoff wants boost in U.S. cyberdefense

When you think of national defense, you might think of fighting outside the nation's borders. But cyberthreats are internal, and brings the war right into your office or home computer. Former Homeland Defense Secretary Michael Chertoff says the 21st century nature of cyberterrorism is critical to national security. The Frederick News Post reports that this type of cyberwarfare combines the high-tech online world with the ancient art of the swindle. Chertoff wants to see the nation's cyber defense increased, telling the BBC that cyberspace is just as integral to our nation's security as ground, sea and air warfare.
